The newly revamped and launched Centre Hub is the premier platform for suppliers and buyers seeking business and procurement and training opportunities, as well as B2B networking in Guyana. Powered by an International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC) coding system, businesses registered on the Centre Hub are alerted to upcoming local business opportunities across a wide variety of sectors including the oil and gas industry.

The Centre for Local Business Development (The Centre) opened its doors to the public in 2017 and soon after introduced its Supplier Registration Portal – the first electronic business directory in Guyana at the time. The aim of this portal then was to ensure that suppliers have access to updated procurement opportunities in the O&G sector.

As the economy rapidly continued to evolve, so did the role of the Centre and the Portal to support broader economic development. Like any other technological platform, regular maintenance and upgrades are needed. However, given the growing needs of the business community, a total revamp and relaunch was timely.

After months of consultations and ongoing discussions with the oil and gas operator and prime contractors, governmental agencies and the private sector, the Centre is happy to officially launch the Centre Hub. Its new and innovative features will continue to bring added benefits to companies especially our local companies and the entire private sector.

Based on these engagements, the Centre Hub now features :

• the use of ISIC codes which will enable businesses to have their goods and services coded to an international recognised classification system enabling more targeting of notifications of business opportunities. ISIC codes also allows the Centre to ensure that its trainings to companies are mapped back to the needs of the economy ensuring that companies are adequately prepared to take advantage of the opportunities in-country.
• the B2B feature which will allow businesses to reach out to other businesses at the local and international level, to engage, partner and more.
• support to the Local Content Secretariat with new features including automated notification to Guyanaese businesses 3 months prior to the expiration of their Local Content Certificates.
• automated registration for any Centre trainings and networking events.
• a more user-friendly and easily accessible platform.
