ExxonMobil Guyana along with the Stabroek Block Co-venturers, with support from the Centre for Local Business Development, were delighted to host the Guyana Supplier Forum 2022 at the Leonora Stadium (National Track & Field Facility), West Coast Demerara, Region 3.
The Guyana Supplier Forum provided a unique platform for Guyanese suppliers to receive up-to-date information on the procurement process, key contacts, and upcoming tenders for 2022 and longer-term directly from ExxonMobil Guyana and its leading Prime Contractors for Offshore Oil and Gas and the Gas to Energy Project. The goal of the Forum was to provide Guyanese businesses with valuable insights and access to the activities that exist and are upcoming in the oil and gas sector.
About the Event
The Forum format had two distinct engagements – presentations and an exhibition. The presentations and booth exhibitors were made up of ExxonMobil Guyana, the Ministry of Natural Resources, Gas to Energy and Offshore Oil and Gas Prime Contractors. Day 1 was for invited businesses only, while Day 2 was opened to businesses and the general public. The Forum also had four recruitment agencies for individuals who attended in relation to employment vacancies on Day 2.
Presenters and Exhibitors
ExxonMobil Guyana is the operator of the Stabroek, Canje, and Kaieteur Blocks offshore Guyana. In June 1999, Esso Exploration and Production Guyana Ltd (EEPGL) signed a production sharing agreement with the Government of Guyana, for the 6.6 million acres (26,800 square kilometres) Stabroek block. As operator of the block, EEGPL holds 45 percent interest, and co-venturers (CoVs) Hess Guyana Exploration Ltd. holds 30 percent interest and CNOOC Petroleum Guyana Limited holds 25 percent interest.
The Liza Phase 1 field began producing oil and gas in 2019, less than five years after discovery and ahead of industry average, and Liza Phase 2 began producing in 2022. A third project, Payara, could start up before the end of 2023, and a fourth, Yellowtail, has also been sanctioned.
With more than 25 significant discoveries the estimate of the discovered recoverable resource for the Stabroek Block is now nearly 11 billion oil-equivalent barrels.
ExxonMobil Guyana maintains a very active community relations programme. We have, and continue to make substantial contributions through strategic community investments in the areas of environmental sustainability, STEM education, and women, youth, and community empowerment.
The Greater Guyana Initiative, funded by the Stabroek Block CoVs, is a long-term commitment (US $100M) to partner with reputable NGOs and other organisations to support capacity building, local content development and sustainable community enhancement.

Gaico was built from humble beginnings and this humility permeates throughout the entire company to date. The business was started by Mr and Mrs Singh who struggled to develop a reputable business – all the while raising two young children. With determination and innovation, Gaico has grown to become a well-known name that is synonymous with excellence. With safety as a top priority, we have experienced rapid growth and diversification to evolve into the company we are today.
It is this same spirit of determination and innovation that has propelled the company into expanding and realigning its operations to cater for the country’s newfound petroleum industry. Today, Gaico has jobs across the length and breadth of Guyana and has over 100 employees. The company is integrally involved in the development of the country in the civil works sector, marine sector and most recently in the oil and gas sector in the areas of oil spill response and waste management. This year we also added an agricultural sector to our complement of services.
Our main goal at Gaico is to build a stronger foundation for tomorrow by providing quality, safe and sustainable services, and products to help develop our beautiful country.

Noble has been contracted to complete the drilling of wells as part of the exploration and development of offshore assets. Noble’s essential objective for the Guyanese Development Plan is to continue to set the strategy to support EEPGL with efforts to develop the local oil and gas industry and contribute to the sustainable development of offshore energy exploration in Guyana.

This requires providing the necessary education and skills that oil and gas development needs. The Noble Bob Douglas drillship arrived in Guyana in March of 2018 with eighteen Guyanese personnel on board, and through the hard work of both the individual workers and their mentors, our Guyanese workforce has grown to over 300, and is an integral part of our teams onboard the Noble Bob Douglas, and our other drillships, Noble Tom Madden, Noble Don Taylor, and Noble Sam Croft.
Noble has engaged with local suppliers of goods and services to explain the standards required of the oil and gas industry, and to guide them in establishing their own business frameworks to be able to engage in commerce with not only Noble, but with the numerous other international companies involved in the Guyana projects. We continue to stay engaged by participating in local chambers of commerce to provide feedback and ensure quality delivery of products and services. Through balancing fiscal responsibility in our operation with the necessity to support and enhance the local industrial community.
